Last week I spent one evening in Magaluf at a Tinie Tempah gig. Yes, really. We were holidaying in Majorca; the kids were keen; and I went as driver and "guardian". It cost me 35 quid per ticket to mix with Shagaluf's holidaying finest (those that wore a shirt were mostly Liverpool or Newcastle fans for you researchers out there).

According to a Reuters report late yesterday, Daily Mail & General Trust is planning its own new mass-market Sunday tabloid to fill the gap left by The News of the World.

A trading statement this morning from Associated Newspapers reports that trading during April and the first three weeks of May had seen advertising revenues 5% down on last year.

I always feel some sympathy for the systems guys in the media industry - especially at the agency end, where the role seems to consist all too often of aborted (potentially interesting) projects replaced by (far less interesting) fire-fighting. But competing hard for our sympathy vote are surely researchers these days - and in that case I mean the guys who are meant to be delivering the research, not those using it.

Nielsen launched its new hybrid methodology for digital measurement yesterday to a select audience in London. The methodology has already been rolled out in the USA and Spain and will soon be running in Australia and New Zealand too.
