Over on ITV1 and ITV1 HD replacing the show was the live UEFA Champions League, which started at 7.30pm airing the German team Bayer Leverkusen Vs Chelsea match untill 10pm.

BBC One medical drama Holby City helped the channel score a comfortable win in the ratings battle with ITV1. Last night's edition of the long running show, which saw headstrong Dr Antoine Malick place a patient's life in danger during a surgical procedure, pulled in an impressive average audience of 5.4 million people and a viewing share of 22.2%.

The BBC had a successful weekend with the ratings as Saturday night's Strictly Come Dancing saw BBC One peak with over 12.2 million viewers, holding 45.5% of the audience share, beating ITV1's X-Factor's peak of 10 million viewers.
